History of the 28/32cm Wurfrahmen auf PzKpfw 38H (f)
From 1939 to 1940, 540 Model 39 light tanks rolled off the Hotchkiss assembly lines. Powered by a 1938 Hotchkiss engine, 6 cylinders of 120hp, the 12 tons of the H-39 traveled at 36 km/h. The 210 liters of gasoline allowed a range of at best 150 km.
After the Armistice on Saturday June 22, 1940, the German occupiers recycled the H-39s, which returned to service for the Axis until 1945.
Thus a certain number of H-39s received side frames in 1943 to launch missiles. 280mm rockets. The projectile measured 119 cm, weighed 82 kg – explosive charge 50 kg, had a speed of 145 m/s, a maximum range of 1925 m and produced significant blast and fragmentation effects on impact.
