GAS48605 FlakZwilling 88 mm FlaK43 Auf E-100

A heavy AA SPG project was planned that would have used the hull and chassis of the E-100 tank. Basically this AA vehicle was an E-100 with a new dedicated turret.
A crew of 5 to 6 would have been shielded by 40 mm to 200 mm thick steel plates. A duet of 88 mm FlaK 36/37 Krupp cannons was to be housed in this purposely designed turret. The 88 mm round weighed 14.7 kg, the muzzle velocity was 820 m/s and the max ceiling was 10,600 m. An AEG "FG 1250" IR device would have enabled the tank-commander night-combat with a range up to 600 m thanks to a 12 volts and 200 watts infra-red searchlight coupled with an IR aiming sight. The E-100 Flakzwilling was to be escorted, thus no secondary weapons were fitted. This heavy SPG never went any farther than the drawing board.
