History of the Italian flamethrower tankette L 3/35
These "Tanks", which would be more appropriate to call "tankette", were an improved version of the Vickers-Carden-Loyd Mk.VI tankette, were developed in different variants: the flamethrower, deck carrier!! !! and command version.
Development of the flamethrower version began in 1935.
The flamethrower lance replaced the machine guns, the fuel was in an armored trailer, towed by the vehicle. The late version had the fuel carried in a tank mounted above the L3's engine compartment. The L3 flamethrower has seen action in Spain, France, the Balkans and North Africa.
