Acmat VLRA 2 TDE 4.36 Commando history
ACMAT trucks are rugged, versatile off-roaders. Launched by ALM (Ateliers Legueu Meaux) in the early 1960s, they are now manufactured by Ateliers de constructions mécaniques de l'Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire. Better known in the French army as the VLRA (Véhicule Léger de Reconnaissance et d'Appui).
An icon of the Group, the VLRA has been around for over 40 years, and has spawned more than 75 versions now sold in 46 countries.
All versions can be airlifted by military transport aircraft.
It was therefore essential that the renovated vehicle should preserve its identity: a horizontal radiator grille, sloping hood sections, a very vertical windscreen silhouette, geometrically shaped wheel arches.
The fundamentals: sturdiness, simplicity, aggressiveness, technical ingenuity, functionality and crossing ability.
This new VLRA range retains the 100% military ACMAT concept, proven in the most extreme environments. The new VLRA meets all the tactical and operational requirements of the Armed Forces and Special Forces, for greater mobility, load capacity and protection.
