History of the M113 ACAV Vietnam

Army in 1960. Designed and produced by the Californian firm FMC, it was the workhorse of the American motorized infantry during the Vietnam War and is still widely used in the 2000s by several armies.
It is designed based on an aluminum alloy shell which is as strong and lighter than a steel shell. This advantage allows it in particular to have a large payload, to be air transportable, to float and to use a modest power engine.

Intended to accompany the M60 tank on the battlefield, the M113 can transport 11 soldiers and their equipment.
The ACAV modification consisted of one armored shield for the main heavy machine gun and the installation of two more for additional Saco M60 machine guns.
