History of the Culmeyer 60t heavy trailer.
In 1931 Johan Culemeyer founded the Culemeyer company. The simple idea was to produce heavy road trailers to transport railway wagons according to the rolling road concept. These trailers were configurable according to the load to be transported and many versions existed.
The trailer was presented for the first time in April 1931 at Anhalter station in Berlin. The standard trailer had 4 axles and therefore eight wheels for a capacity of 50 tonnes.
These trailers were used throughout the Second World War to facilitate logistics for the Deutsche Reichsbahn, the Wehrmacht and other organizations. They made it possible, among other things, to transport rolling railway equipment from construction workshops to depots and marshalling yards.
