History of the Renault AGC 3 ambulance light truck

It was only in January 1940 that the first AGC 3 heavy toilets were, not without difficulty, ready to be delivered. Scheduled for December 1939, production fell behind schedule due to the late submission of the drawings for the health fund and the lack of external coachbuilders but also the prevailing economic situation.

After several upgrades of technical problems, more or less resolved, the first deliveries were made in mid-January and became first emergency equipment with 30 and 20 ambulances delivered per day. In total, as of May 20, 1940, 2,853 AGC heavy medical units will be received by the French Army.

The AGC 3 were to be the first vehicles equipped with NRBC type with a body overpressure system to prevent passenger poisoning in the event of passing through a gas layer but, with the armistice, Renault did not have the time to get the production process underway.
