History of the Russian T-26 light tank
From 1938 to 1939, 2,400 examples of T-26C were produced by factories 100, 185, 232 (Leningrad) and 174 (Omsk). A 90 hp GAZ T-26 gasoline engine took this 10.5 ton vehicle to the more at 30 km/h, the range was 180 km with 285 liters of fuel.
The three tankers were protected by at best 15 mm of steel. The armament consisted of a 45 mm M1938 L/46 cannon and was supplemented by two 7.62 mm Degtjarev Tankovyi (DT) machine guns equipped with 3654 cartridges. 165 45 mm shells supplied the gun, each shell weighed 1.43 kg, had an initial speed of 820 m/s and pierced 50 mm of steel at 1000 m.
This light tank was used in Spain by the Republicans, in China, in Turkey and naturally in the USSR until its withdrawal from the front lines in mid-1942.
