Historique du Panzerjäger Steyr RSO/4 75mm PaK40
In early 1944, 60 examples of the RSO all-terrain tracked vehicle were fitted with a PaK. 40 75 mm anti-tank gun, with the aim of creating a cost-effective tank hunter.
The gun was installed in the cargo area of the RSO, on a rotating platform. Unprotected, with an underpowered and noisy engine, the RSO Panzerjäger was not a very powerful combination. Nevertheless, these 60 combat vehicles were transferred to the 18.
PzGrenadier-Division, the Panzerjäger Abteilungen 743 and 744, and the 1st Skijäger Brigade. A final development was created with a PaK. 88 mm: the PzJag. K43/1, 2 and 3, a project that never came to fruition.
