History of the AMX 30 EBD mine-clearing tank Opération Daguet
The AMX 30 EBD is the result of an emergency "crash program" designed to meet the need for heavy mine-clearing equipment for Operation Daguet during the 1991 Gulf War. To achieve this, a number of AMX 30Bs were modified by adapting a Soviet KMT-5 (ex-NVA) mine detonation system.
The machine is remotely controlled up to 2,000 meters to spare crews the stress of explosions. At the end of the operation, the French Army decided to replace these machines with more powerful equipment, giving rise to the AMX 30B2 DT.
