History of the British self-propelled Sexton 25 Pdr based on Solido
The Sexton self-propelled artillery gun was a derivative of the M7 "Priest", and used the chassis of the "Ram" tank. From 1943 to 1945, 2,150 of these vehicles were produced in Canada. Throughout production, improvements were made to the hull and running gear.
It was used by Commonwealth troops during the campaign to reconquer Western Europe.
Retired from service in the mid-50s by its original users, many Sextons were sold to foreign armies. This gave them a second operational life well into the 1970s.
