Started in 1935 (year 95 in Japan), production by Nihon Nainenki of the Kurogane light vehicle totaled 4,755 examples. This 1050 kg car was powered by a 1399 cm3 twin-cylinder petrol engine with a power of 33 hp. The maximum speed was 70 km/h. Three to four people sat on board.

Equipped with four-wheel drive, this vehicle was the Japanese counterpart of the American Jeep. The main roles of the Kurogane, nicknamed "Daruma", were liaison and reconnaissance.
