History of tank Leclerc XLR

The refurbished Leclerc tanks (XLR) are equipped with means of sharing the tactical situation in real time with other vehicles in the SCORPION* military program (Griffon, Jaguar, and Serval): vetronics and SCORPION combat information system (SICS), CONTACT software-defined radio, and GPS.

They benefit from enhanced protection against improvised explosive devices, mines, and rockets thanks to the BARAGE jammer and new overprotection kits (ventral and lateral). Their capabilities have also been enhanced thanks to the development of a new fire control system (capability to fire new ammunition) and the integration of a remotely operated turret kit from the Franco-Belgian military partnership CaMo (Motorized Capacity). The refurbished Leclerc tanks will also benefit, starting in 2028, from new digital sights for the gunner and tank commander
