History of the Unic P-107 SPW FlaK38
The semi-tracked P 107 was produced by Unic in Puteaux. 1,800 of these were in service until the armistice on Saturday June 22, 1940. This vehicle was equipped with a 3500 cm3 four-cylinder engine developing around 60 hp, enabling a maximum speed of 45 km/h.
Many P 107s fell into the hands of the Germans, who used them for a variety of tasks. For example, 72 P 107s were converted to carry a piece of light anti-aircraft equipment. The 20 mm FlaK 38 manufactured by Rheinmetall weighed 405 kg. Shells were discharged at a practical rate of 220 rounds/min, at a speed of 900 m/s, with a maximum ceiling of 3,700 m.
This fully-armored self-propelled anti-aircraft gun was assigned to the 931 Armored Artillery Regiment of the Western Rapid Brigade set up in France in the summer of 1943.
