History of the VAB 6x6 Qatar

This is now the case with a modernized version of the vehicles used by the Qatari army. Qatar unveiled its upgraded 6×6 Véhicule de l'Avant Blindé (VAB) armored personnel carriers (APCs) on May 31, 2022, four months ahead of FIFA 2022. 

The upgraded VABs have seen the exhaust system transferred to a housing added to the left side, indicating that they have been fitted with new engines, possibly the 340hp MD7 diesel used in the VAB MK 3. Like most modernized VABs, the waterjets and flotation
system were removed, but also fitted with new radios and internal communications systems. 50 VABs have been modernized and delivered.
