VIB miniature on Solido base
VIB (Véhicule d'Intervention Blindé) conversion
With the retirement of the good old US half-track with Maxon mount, the French Air Force had no heavy equipment left to defend its air bases.
The arrival of the VAB in the AdT opened up possibilities for beefing up the armament of the obsolete 12.7 machine guns.
The French Air Force opted for a version of the VAB equipped with a single-seat turret armed with a GIAT M893 20mm cannon and a 7.62mm machine gun, called the TOUCAN TC 20-13.
The new vehicle was named VIB for Véhicule d’Intervention sur Base (or Blindé) and entered service with the French Air Force in 1981.
This conversion reproduces the new Solido-based Armored Intervention vehicle with the brand’s renowned quality.
The kit contains photoetched parts and a machined metal barrel, making the model as real as the original.
